Nokia 100

Nokia 100

Expected Q4 2011
25th August 2011
Nokia's most affordable phone ever, the Nokia 100 is pitched to sell at just €20 before tax and subsidy.
 Nokia 100
As you might expect, you don't get a huge amount of features for this price.. in fact it's amazing that anyone can make a mobile phone at all for this sort of money. But the Nokia 100 isn't as basic as you might think - it comes with a 1.8" 128 x 160 pixel TFT display, an FM radio with a headset included in the box and an integrated flashlight.
The operating system is Nokia's ultra-basic Series 30, but it has recently had a makeover so it looks much more modern. The Nokia 100 has 32 built in polyphonic ringtones, a calendar and alarm clock, up to 500 phone book entries and a cost tracking application.
There's no data of any sort on the 100, this is a dual-band GSM 900/1800 or 850/1800 device only, and there's no camera or Bluetooth either, but what do you expect for €20? It weighs just 70 grams and measures 110 x 46 x 15mm and the 850 mAh battery provides up to 7 hours talktime and 35 days standby time.
The inclusion of Nokia Life Tools indicates that this is a device aimed at emerging markets, although cheap Nokias always sell well even in richer countries.
A variety of colours are available (depending on market) including various shades of blue, pink, red and black. Nokia say that the 100 should be available during Q4 2011.
Although this is incredibly cheap, it's worth noting that for just €5 more you can have the much more capable Nokia 101 instead.
